“Sometimes all we need is just a comforting hug to let us know that people care,” says Eric Thompson-Bey. “I’m a grown man, I’ve been hardened by time in prison, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t also need a hug now and then.”
Eric’s hugs come easy today. His big arms swallow you up, washing away your troubles. “I wanted to make this card because if it helps just one person feel better, it would mean a lot to me,” he beams.
Eric has been homeless several times from 1997 to 2016. Currently, he has housing and is working his way up the ranks in the kitchen of a popular restaurant in the Adams Morgan neighborhood of Washington, DC.
