Back in 2014,when we opened our business, we chose Chamblee because of the vibrant and diverse community of our neighborhood. We are so glad we did. From the beginning,our neighbors were our customers, and as time went on, we began to become a part of that lovely Chamblee community. During the pandemic,we closed our brick & mortar and went online. Thankfully, people still supported us by sharing posts, and yes, shopping. However, I missed seeing people daily and the interactions with "Gorgeous Friends." The postal carrier, people browsing, chatting and ,hearing the happenings about town. Since leaving Chamblee and moving to Massachusetts, much has changed. Like learning about snow, snowplows, ice fishing, bears and ice fog. (to name a few) In June 2025, I began participating in Markets. And they are GLORIOUS! Berkshire Pittsfield Pride in the rain, and North Adams Pride on a very windy evening. Both of these shows were wonderful! Talking with people again and having them respond enthusiastically to our curated collection of merchandise was very gratifying. Bonus! I met Jesse, Maker of Virgins on Fire Candle, in North Adams in real life. (we had chatted for years through instagram.) Since then, I joined Common Folk Art Collective and have been participating in Makers on Main outdoor and indoor Markets. I volunteer at the Senior Center, at a thrift shop, and with the Berkshire Democratic Brigades. It has been excellent to learn more about The Berkshires and begin to become a part of a new community. Last week, I went to a Protest Open Mic night to hear a new friend read her poem. I was surprised to discover that a neighbor was reading his poetry as well. People played their guitars and sang as part of the evening. When I realized I knew 2 people at this event, I paused, took it in and felt at home.
